Tiger Family Dental

Jon Ehlers, DDS

Dr. Ehlers was born and raised in Cole Camp, just a few miles from Tiger Family Dental. It’s fair to say that he is a big sports fan, particularly basketball and baseball. He played basketball during his youth, all the way through college, and even held the scoring record in basketball for 14 years. Dr. Jon lives in Sedalia with his wife, Amanda and their 8 year old daughter, Kaylen. Spending time as a family, walking their Corgi puppy, Max, and playing softball are some of the things Dr. Jon and his family enjoy doing. Dr. Jon is a huge Mizzou Tigers fan and rarely misses a football game. Watching sports is a great way to spend time with friends and family.

Dr. Jon always knew that he wanted to be in healthcare. When he discovered he loved working with his hands, he decided on dentistry. Dentistry is the perfect mix of medicine, art, and engineering.

“The wonderful thing about dentistry is that I can improve someone's health and, at the same time, improve their self-esteem and their self-confidence. The true reward in this profession is knowing that you can really make a difference in someone’s life.

I am a dentist because I care about people, and it is my pleasure to help patients find their confidence, create their beautiful smile, or even achieve a pain-free existence. I love my job because there is a new challenge every day. Dentistry allows me to shape other peoples lives for the better and create lasting relationships that I cherish so much.” - Dr. Jon Ehlers

After attending Cole Camp High School, Dr. Jon went on to Lindenwood University where he earned his degree in Biology and graduated summa cum laude.

Dr. Jon then attended the University of Missouri Kansas City for his DDS degree. He graduated in 2010 in the top 25 percent of his class. Experience and versatility are important to Dr. Jon, so he completed a one-year internship in oral surgery and a prestigious implant residency. These skills allow Dr. Jon to provide many surgical procedures here in our Sedalia dental office.

Dental Sleep Apnea Appliance Review - Sedalia, MO

“First one that falls asleep wins!” has always been the running joke between me and my husband. I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, always restless, having trouble with concentration and memory. I became excessively tired throughout the day. A CPAP mask strapped around my head, covering my nose and mouth was the prescribed resolution. It was impossible to get comfortable enough to sleep while wearing the CPAP because I sleep on my side and stomach.

In search of an alternative, effective solution. While researching, I found the National Sleep Foundation says more than 18 million adults suffer from sleep apnea. It also talked about ongoing damage to your health when your oxygen to your brain is briefly and repeatedly interrupted during sleep. Then I found out about Dentist, Dr. Jon Ehlers treating sleep apnea patients with an oral appliance. I called his office, confirmed the availability of the sleep apnea treatment, and made my appointment.

That appointment changed my life. It was amazing to wake-up after the first night of wearing my device and realizing I slept all night. My husband immediately noticed I was no longer snoring. It has been a year now and I’m still sleeping all night without snoring.

I am forever grateful to Dr. Jon for improving my quality of daily life. In fact, I was so impressed with Dr Jon and his amazing staff. He is not only my hero for treating my sleep apnea. He is now our family dentist.
